About me
Prior to becoming a freelance translator, I received a master's-level degree in 2001 as a certified translator (Diplom-Übersetzerin) for Italian and French from the Faculty of Translation Studies, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at the University of Mainz, Germersheim, and worked abroad extensively, after which I was employed for a number of years by numerous translation agencies and private companies in Germany. It was in those positions that I honed my organisational skills and learned how to manage translation projects from end to end.
As part of my on-going efforts to improve my linguistic skills and to keep up with developments in my profession, in 2006 while working full-time I earned a distance-learning certificate in German as a Second Language from the Goethe-Institut, and in 2007 I passed the accredited translator examination in the language pair English-German administered by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators & Interpreters Ltd. (NAATI).
My wide-ranging experience and skills enable me to understand and be responsive to your individual wishes and ideas.
I use the latest industry-standard software and am able to comply with individual client wishes and order-specific requirements. These and other professional standards are just as important to me as is a knowledgeable and individual approach to every client I work with.
I am a member of ADÜ Nord e.V., a professional association of interpreters and translators based in northern Germany, and of the Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ).
